Lola Rose Brewery -1531
The Lola Rose Brewery project demonstrated how thoughtful design and practical packaging solutions can successfully support a small, independent brewer in establishing a distinctive and professional presence within a competitive craft beer market. The brief was to create a cohesive range of three beers comprising a Red Ale, Blonde Beer, and Stout, each sharing a unified identity while maintaining sufficient differentiation across the range.
At the heart of the concept was the unique provenance of the brewery itself. Crafted in Scotland's highest village, situated at an elevation of 1,531 feet above sea level, this remarkable location provided a compelling story and inspired the product name, 1531.
The design sought to celebrate this sense of place, creating a brand identity that communicated authenticity, craftsmanship, and the rugged character of the Scottish countryside.
Given the scale of the brewery and the commercial realities of small-batch production, the packaging solution was developed using standard bottle and labelling components. This approach allowed the client to benefit from cost-effective production without compromising the overall visual impact of the brand. Careful attention was paid to the label design, ensuring that the range delivered strong shelf presence and a coherent family appearance while using straightforward production processes.
Beyond the creative development, the project highlighted the value of our integrated packaging technology service. We managed the specification and implementation of the label production, working closely with one of our trusted manufacturing partners to ensure the designs could be reproduced accurately and consistently. By overseeing both the technical and supply aspects of the project, we were able to provide the client with a seamless route from concept development through to finished production.
The resulting range successfully combined strong storytelling, practical packaging execution, and reliable supply chain management. The Lola Rose Brewery 1531 collection stands as an example of how carefully considered design can elevate a local craft producer, creating a distinctive brand identity that reflects its heritage while remaining commercially viable for a growing independent business.
